Art Intern

As an art intern you will work in a fast paced environment creating patterns and artwork for Kohl’s private label brands. You will gain a strong understanding of each brand’s aesthetic and be able to work on a variety of different projects.

What you’ll do

  • Assist in creating and manipulating prints, yarn-dyes, and placed graphics
  • Assist the lead textile designer in setting up art concept boards
  • Participate in the research and development of seasonal trends, themes, concepts and colors
  • Create original graphic art from the concept direction
  • Present your work with research in the form of color, mood boards and collages
  • Collaborate with color, trend, and CAD artists, the buying office and other designers

This is you

  • Undergraduate junior
  • You have a strong artistic background and the ability to create conceptual and fine art in several different mediums
  • You know your way around photoshop and illustrator
  • You love to solve problems - ex. "how can I make a floral pattern look masculine?"
  • The idea of typography, hand lettering, embroidery, textures and dimension excites you
  • You see the value in critiques - you use the feedback to make your designs stronger

Design Intern

Have you started planning your first day outfit yet?

As a design intern you will work hands-on to create and build products and samples, while also providing your perspective into future concepts and trends. You will be placed within a specific category or brand but have the opportunity to gain exposure to multiple areas.

What you’ll do

  • Participate in design challenges - explore various areas of design (home, kids, shoes, etc.)
  • Create and update trim sheets, CADs, and line sheets
  • Collaborate with product development, the buying office and art for direction
  • Research trends and provide insight into testing new styles
  • Design products! and then hand them off to product management to develop and create samples

Technical Design Intern

As a technical design intern, you will work with cross-functional teams to bring design sketches to life in a way that ensures quality and utility. Basically, you make sure someone can actually wear and use the products that your design partners create.

What you’ll do

  • Work as an intern in home, footwear or apparel
  • Inspect product samples for defects and ensure specifications are met accurately
  • Make recommendations on what changes need to be made to products to make them wearable
  • Use competitive shopping to analyze trends, fit and construction techniques
  • Attend fittings and communicate fit suggestions and comments to vendors

This is you

  • Undergraduate junior
  • You're a little type A. okay, you're a lot type A - details are everything!
  • You live by deadlines - you rarely, if ever, miss them!
  • You're a creative problem - solver and have an eye for fit (buttons need to fit through holes!)

Marketing interns work on teams that are in charge of both relaying our brand message to our customers and talking to our internal associates to keep them informed of company initiatives. This group analyzes our customers to make sure we are connecting with them in authentic ways via channels such as TV, print, social media, mobile and more.

What you’ll do

  • Work on projects that drive traffic into stores
  • Analyze consumer trends
  • Create and execute cross-channel digital, brand, and event marketing plans
  • Assist in development of graphics, websites and interactive media for kohls.com
  • Provide reporting and analysis in support of online marketing and merchandise on kohls.com
  • Support the creation of a cohesive experience across social channels
