Merchandise Analyst Intern

As a merchandise analyst intern you will work in a buying office and use data to make recommendations on what products to buy, how much to buy and what locations to send it to.

What you’ll do

  • Review data to determine what's selling and what's not
  • Learn about allocation and localization (ex. why you wouldn't send puffer coats to a store in florida)
  • Observe the buyer and help make strategic assortment decisions
  • Present selling recaps to managers (best and worst sellers)
  • Use competitive shopping to analyze trends, pricing and marketing

  • You know your way around a spreadsheet
  • You not only like to prove a point, you usually have data to back it up

As a merchandise analyst trainee, you will look at weekly sales recaps to determine best sellers and opportunities within your product category. You will also work with vendors to ensure that products get to the right place, at the right time and in the right amount.

  • Give weekly updates to your manager and team about business trends
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to come up with new ideas to drive sales and grow profit
